Making Sense Of The Crisis in Israel

Dear Friends, 

The destruction and violence in Israel and the region this week are heartbreaking, and the events are challenging to process. To help educators support their students in understanding the events unfolding, we’ve created the May 2021: Exploring the Current Israeli-Palestinian crisis resource collection. It features an analysis of recent events as well as articles about how to speak with young children about the events. The collection is ongoing and will be updated with new resources as they are published.

We are also planning an upcoming learning session for educators on this topic, and more information will be posted on The Jewish Educator Portal soon.

To the educators reading this, I know that many of you are exhausted. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, you pivoted. Again. I wrote in The Times of Israel yesterday about how imperative it is that Jewish educators make time to care for themselves as they navigate their students and communities through yet another political crisis. Our communities are stronger when our educators have the time and resources to care for themselves.
